An old soul in a
youthful body, Syrie Kovitz's work reflects the many facets of her
experience. Of blended European, Semitic, and Native American blood,
her dreamlike imager seems to spring from an ancient dream, or genetic
memory. In her hands the camera captures rare light and shadow, caging
them in print like exotic birds. As most mortals do, Kovitz longs for
wings -- the intrinsic desire evidenced in her sublimely ethereal work.
Currently, in addition to her self-portrait work, she is working on a
documentary she filmed in Romania. She current resides in Denver,
