David
Brady was born in 1961 in Los Angeles, California. As a painter he is
known for his continuous exploration of the figure through his unique
collage and mixed media paintings. Brady views painting and creativity
as a science in which one incessantly experiments with a variety of
mediums and self-taught techniques while
researching themes through travel, sketching and reading. His mediums
include oil, pen and ink, photography, collage and a host of urban
found objects, to portray powerful and provocative images.
Since 1983, Brady's paintings have been the feature of several one-man exhibitions and international projects. His work is currently on public view in several galleries, corporate collections and public spaces. In addition his paintings are held in numerous private collections internationally.
His collage paintings and digital works have been exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Art in Cuba, UCLA/Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the International Center for the Study of Collage in France, the Modern Art Museum in Toluca Mexico and Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. In 1998 Brady was awarded an "Artist in Residence" in Japan, where his work was featured at the Kawaguchi Art Station.
The artist has also brought the digital medium into his world of creativity, winning national and international awards for his website creations and CD-ROM designs. Brady's digital collage has been the featured in projects for films such as The Mask of Zorro, Cruel Intentions and The Count of Monte Cristo.
This year his collage work will be exhibited at the National Collage Exhibition at the Lincoln Center in New York, The International Contemporary Collage Exhibition in Paris and Sergine France and the National Museum of Fine Art in Cuba
